From The Driver's
Seat
By Joe Janssens
Our Events Organisers Roger and Rob have inundated us with quite
a few events for February and March. By supporting them you will
motivate the organisers to prepare more of them. See the “Events
Calendar”.
The monthly bring and braai noggin was once again
so well attended that we ran out of burgers and sausages.
We encourage members to support this regular event
as it generates a well needed revenue for the running of the clubhouse.
The Pre OD Inggs Fun Run was very well attended
and followed with a enjoyable picnic under the trees at Cannon
Rocks anchor.
Remember to enter the OD Inggs Memorial Rally to
make this year’s event a record entries.
The final touches to the completion of the
clubhouse are well under way and will be completed before the OD
Inggs participants welcome supper.
Members who have received but not paid for Club
Shirts are asked to make payment ASAP.
Cheers
Joe

Pre OD Fun Run -
Sunday 18 Feb
by Ron Gush
Ten fun runners gathered for the start at Rosehill Mall around
11h30. In alphabetical order:
Austin Westminster - Dave and Daphne McNeill
Fiat 124 - Rob Mears and Jimmy Kamffer
Mercedes Benz 280SL - Joe and Paulette Janssens
MGB GT - Alf Steck and Mercia Kruger
MG Magnette - David and Christian Dicken
Morris 8 - Bill and Shirley Martin
Peugeot 404 - Charles and Myrna Pellew
Rolls Royce - Dave and Delene Hawkins
Triumph Spitfire - Ron and Pam Gush
Something Modern - Mike and Dagmar - friends of McNeills
And a Rover P6 - George Armstrong - organiser
George and Roger Darkes handed out route schedules and we were
free to go, in our own time.

It was a pleasant run out to Kenton, a little tour around the
houses, then on to Cannon Rocks to finish at the cannon
monument. Nobody found "Evven on Erf" in Kenton,
because the sign had been removed by builders a day or 2 ago.
We found that out on our way home! And snapped this picture:
The mood, as we set up our picnics under the trees, was jovial
and we were all deemed to be winners. George did tell us what
we should have "scored" and everyone was happy. A
very pleasant outing indeed.
Many thanks to George Armstrong and Roger Darkes for organizing
it.

Tailpipe - 2018
George Motor Show
by Ron Gush
On Friday, driving down to George, there must have been at least
10 classic and muscle cars filling up with petrol and / or coffee
at Storms River Bridge. The raw smell of petrol (from leaky
carburetors?) and growling engines was wonderful.
The show was great. Lovely overcast day. Spent the weekend with
Pam, Philip and Shirley. Met lots of old friends at the show.
The pre 1930 cars were the highlight of the show. Fifty two of
them, 38 being Model T Fords, had taken part in a tour from
Wilderness to Oudtshoorn, Meirings Poort and back to George.
Let the pictures tell the story:

Another
immaculate beauty.
It seems that my album is a bit short of the "ordinary"
cars of the fifties and sixties. But then, I suppose, that matronly
types do not often feature on the centre fold..... We can only
dream.
